Anyone remember Page Field at MCRD P.I.? MCAS Beaufort was my first duty station when I returned from Viet Nam,1968. I was assigned to work at Page Field at PI. Helo landing pad and a WW II Hanger for gliders was the only thing there, except for a tent for Crash Crew..Page Field was MCAS Paris Island prior to 1947.

They had a Harrier crash out there... May 3, 1989. AV-8B (BuNo 163185) from VMA-542. It had trouble after takeoff and couldn't get back to Beaufort. Link: www.joebaugher.com/navy_serials/thirdseries22.htmlNo Hotspot out there at that time, though. Just a few DI's and a bunch of recruities running around like headless chickens. "THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!" ;D

I remember going to Page Field at MCRD, PI some time in 1960. Sgt Vogt was the crewchief, I was a crewmember. That was a long time ago.

I remember in boot camp marching to the airfield and doing map and compass training in 72. The DI said it wasn't used at that time? My ADI was Sgt Jim Licursi and his MOS was 7051.
