I received a phone call a few days ago from Robert's son, telling me of his passing. Here is the obituary from the Lake City (Florida) Reporter... Robert D. Harris, 78, of Ormond Beach, passed away on October 3, 2010. Burial was Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. Robert was born to the late Daniel and Ila Lee Harris on December 23, 1931 in Daytona Beach, FL. He honorably served 30 years with the US Marine Corps as an Aviation Crash Fireman and retired as a Gunnery Sgt. He served in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. After his retirement from Marine Corps he was a school bus driver for the Yuma Union High School in Arizona. He is survived by his son Edward Harris of Phoenix, AZ, his daughter Roberta Harris of Jacksonville, FL, one brother Thomas Harris and wife Ruth of Sanford, FL, one sister Virgle McCain and husband Harding "Mac" of Ormond Beach, FL, and special nephews Roy Gailey and Larry Werner. He is preceded in death by a brother Lee Roy Harris, sisters Stella Crawford, Leona Gibson, and his special aunt Alphia Doherty.
