A while back I saw sitting in the Chino Air Museum was a Old school MB-5 painted Marine Corps Green. I wasn't able to find anyone who knew anything. I'm still hoping I can find out who is the in charge. What a great project it would be to restore it. I'd like the AFFR to own it but that is another thing I suppose.

When I was in K-Bay in 87 we had one mb-5 left, I think I was one of the few who had qualified to operate it, it was out on the line all the way at the end, nobody wanted to inspect it everyday. I took attention to it on the weekends when my sector had the duty and the field was closed. Well a few months later the IG was on base, and when they inspected the 6 new p-19's in the barn, 5 were put out of service for brakes (truckmasters hadn't been doing their job). We had to have 1400 gallons available on the air field to keep operations going, when they inspected my little mb-5 it was outstanding, I spent the whole day behind the wheel and had to show the newer guys how to work the truck. I loved that little beast, they took it out of service months later, I really missed it.

Again I have lots of pictures of the Old School MB-5. Go to my Facebook site Stephen Liest I've got 3 pictures there of them. Does anyone remember fitting them with C-130 tires? Had to enlarge the beads by cutting them out. First true off road tires I think.
