Fellow Marine-A former President's son was a'Raider'& he went on the 'Makin Raid' in WW II/ Any ideas who that was? Believe it was FDR's son- Lt.Col. Theodore Roosevelt,think they called him 'Teddy' & he went on to other actions in the Pacific? I previously mentioned,in another writing, what year my marine family members started their duty w/the USMC & USMCR! And I've got a lot of 'Family members' who served & serve in other Services? Two still run in 'Harms Way' & I'll leave it at that!-RichW/43

I read this with great intrest as I have a love of history. But it was Brig.General James Roosevelt Jr. U.S.M.C.R that serverd with the 2nd and 4th BN Raiders in the Pacific. He was awarded the Navy Cross and Silver star. Lt.Col. Theodore Roosevelt USA served in the Europen theater and won the Medal of Honor and I believe he and his father Teddy Roosevelt are the only other father and son to be awarded the Medal of Honor the other two being Douglas MacArthur Sr. and General of the Army Douglas MacArthur. Not to be disrespectfull to you it just got me thinking and I wanted to check and give the cridet to the right Roosevelt.

There is a line in the move Battle Cry by James Whitmore that goes " Politics and War make strange bedfellows " I believe alot of times it is better to joke and discuss history then to talk politics and war this way it doesn,t cause a bad resolve amoung friends. But maybe someday we can learn from history?

I agree with you Terry. But everyone wants to blame,e The President..........Well hes not the only one, Congress makes our laws. They say they speak for the people and Blame The President. But they are a bigger problem for us. We should change President and Congress. Put some people who work for us. Thats one reason I joined the Veterans Party. And You all should check out the site. They check out the Candidates to see if they have the Vets intrest........LarryK

Larry;
This is one of those things i don't blame Bush for, but congress is another story. What is the address to the vets party? The candidates all say they support the vets, we need someone who will do as they promise, not only for the vets but all of Americans. I truly believe,as Americans we have lost our rights to large corporations and big money. It is a crying shame that when you work for a company for 30 or 40 years and are told that you have a nice retirement fund and then the lousy bast--ds sell you out and you end up with less then when you started.
Times sure have changed on how I look at life. Love GOD,COUNTRY AND FAMILY so you can get screwed.
Sorry fellas for venting.

Terry, Boy, After re-reading your posts-I agree with you 110%-those in D.C. have things pretty well messed up. Just look at 'All of the major problems affecting Vets'& our Countrymen"? Services have been cut back or not authorized? Funds have gone elsewhere?? We are going to need to close both of our 'Borders,as well as Our Coasts'? Most people don't know we are in the first phases of WW III? Wait until we get hit in some mall, train,ship or another target here in the 'States'- because it will happen.but whom knows when or where?/ RichW/43

How about our wonderful goverment going after the bonus money for vets that extended their tours and then were wounded and having to be medicaly disqualified to continue to serve and our faithful goverment wants some of that money back!! We need to raise our voices through letters,E-mails,phone calls to our representitives to stop this !!! Its a disgrace!...Dale

Fellow Marines- Today,how many Congressmen & Senator's have any 'Military Time',either Regular,Reserve or Guard?? We would be sick if we knew the number? So,how do they know what the Military Needs-Personnel,Pay, Housing,Transportation,Medical,Family Support & Training? Isn't it funny as one of the other members cited,"James Whitmore" in the movie,"Battle Cry",even then 'Politics & Power'drove everything? But durning WW II ,things were held,or censored or presented to put us in our best light? Than doesn't mean ,Battles weren't shown,you saw 'film clips' from MovieTonesNews,showing actions?-RichW/43

Stretch- On # 28, I looked at the referenced-Veterans in Congress? If I counted right for 'Representative- 109 & for 'Senator-29 ? One would not know it-based on the way they act in General? Help the 'Corps' & the Other Services- A lot of lip service? Look at the Veteran problems-not enough support or funds? The hole is pretty deep & rough;but they have to start improving now? -RichW/43--Semper Fi
