She is kicking my butt!!!
Ok, this is what is going on with the M530C I "hope" to have ready for our re-union.
1. The injection pump was removed from her motor before I got her. I have found one, and had two great Marines for MWSS-271 put it on. Bad news, is as soon as she fires up she runs full throttle. She is screaming!!! We worked on her for 3 weekends and still could not get the RPMs down. Now, both Marines have deployed with MWSS 271, I have found another Marine at New River who said he will come down and help me. This is my last hope with this Marine, if not will have to get another injector pump (read "used $350 and up"). None of you guys might just happen to have an injector pump for the LDT 465/1D multi fuel engine down in the basement??
2. Brakes....I am praying they work. Will keep you posted...so you can stay out of the way.
3. Compartment doors, all work great, but two. The hinges on them are frozen by rust. I have been soaking them with oil, but still will not work. I am taking them to work to see if they can be heated, and re enforcement added to the hinge area because the metal is getting weak from me trying to open the doors.
4. Fire fighting gear "Gone Missin" check your attic for any gear that might have been on the truck.
5. Several parts were robbed off the truck while it was in the storage lot for the Ohio forestry service. The tail lights will need replacing (broken), the red flashing light on the roof is gone, they even took the headlights!!!
6. I will also be replacing all the hoses while I have the front of the truck pulled apart working on the engine.
7. Body work, the truck has very little to no rust on her. I think I can repair the few spots of rust I have found. The only body damage on her is in the rear. Her tail board is damaged, it looks like they tried to push her with a fork lift and bent up the tail board. This same fork lift must have rammed her in the back also as there are a couple of "stab wounds" in the rear panel. That will be a little difficult to repair.
Other than that, if I can get this stuff fixed on her, I think I can have her painted and marked for the re-union.
I have sent two photos to Stretch to post of her. She looks tired, but I have saved trucks in worst shape.
