When it comes to protecting the rule of law, words are not enough. We need action.
It's wrong for your government to spy on you. That's why I'm asking you to join me today in calling on the Senate to filibuster revisions to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) that would give "retroactive immunity" to the giant telecom companies for their role in aiding George W. Bush's illegal eavesdropping on American citizens.
The Senate is debating this issue right now -- which is why we must act right now. You can call your Senators now.
Granting retroactive immunity is wrong. It will let corporate law-breakers off the hook. It will hamstring efforts to learn the truth about Bush's illegal spying program. And it will flip on its head a core principle that has guided our nation since our founding: the belief that no one, no matter how well connected or what office they hold, is above the law.
But in Washington today, the telecom lobbyists have launched a full-court press for retroactive immunity. George Bush and Dick Cheney are doing everything in their power to ensure it passes. And too many Senate Democrats are ready to give the lobbyists and the Bush administration exactly what they want.
Please join me in calling on every Senator to do everything in their power -- including joining Senator Dodd's efforts to filibuster this legislation -- to stop retroactive immunity and stand up for the rule of law. The Constitution should not be for sale at any price.
Thank you for taking action.
I received this from Senator John Edwards. I edited it to include all, not just Democrats. If you agree please contact your Senator.

Dale, Not asking anyone to trust Edwards. DO YOU TRUST OUR PRESENT ADMINISTRATION? ? They have lied to us for nearly 8 years. Increased our debt to a unheard of amount. Got us into a war that no one can win, and if there is a winner what do you get? Let cities in the south get washed away and do nothing to help oh wait they gave them trailers to live in that are now condemned. Did away with needed Federal programs so they could cut corporate taxes. Declare mission complete and still looking for the mission. On and on we go where we end up..................... much worse off then this country has ever been in. We can not change the past but we do have a chance to reshape our future. Terry

Terry & Dale, I jumped into the fray; No matter who is in Power;we still need the NSA to do what it does? The 'Elephants & the 'Jackasses' all sound the same; presently the 'New leadership in Congress' have also made a lot of noise about how & who we listen too? Try to keep a 'Secret' in DC? The information will be in the press or on the 'Nightly News'? Should we believe everything they bring forward -it is only Politics? If listening helps keep the 'Bad Guys' away-then I'm all for it? Also, not all our enemies are abroad-we have more than our share here? Semper Fi-RichW/43

Terry, I believe I heard on the 'TV',that the'Eavesdropping Law', remains alive for 15 days from 1 Feb.-The Congress will take a knife to it? When they get done, you won't recognize it? Plus the 'Bad Guys' use an awful lot of 'Cell Phones? They use it & throw the old ones away? We need a 'Total Coverage '? One could beat this unless we always have a Judge available on a 24/7 schedule, take the request call ,activate the system ,issue & record the Finding'? And the Automated System keeps track of each finding(approved or not) for retention & recovery. A separate office in DOJ will handle all this activity. You could make it work w/o all this grandstanding!-RicW/43

Rich, I heard the same thing. I do hope they continue to monitor the "bay guys", the problem I have is it gives the government the right to monitor anyone they want. If I bad mouth the government on the Internet then they can invade my right to freedom of speech and watch and treat me like a terrorist. I could be talking to you and have a tap on the line... is that right. It's just like telling me i must wear a seatbelt or I can't smoke or I must wear a helmet when riding a bike. Do I really need a big brother watching everything I do.
I do wear a seatbelt, I don't smoke or ride a motor bike.
MOTHER MAY I
Our forefathers fought for these rights as we did. Next thing they will want is to read our mail.
SORRY FOR GOING ON AND ON but am tired of getting pushed around by this so call land of the free. If we don't start standing up and voicing our opinions we have fought many wars for notta. Thats why we need to gather up ALL ILLEGALS and ship them out. The land of opportunity needs a door man like Wal-Mart

Terry, True, they might be able to look at you? But,in order to get there you would have to cross the line? We can say neither of us -would or could go in that direction? Keep putting out your viewpoints on subjects? I too wear a 'Seat-belt! MOTHER MAY I- Once-Yes ,Twice-NO! There are those in this 'Country' who would do us harm? Their allegiance is not here? I'm afraid a lot of the 'Bad Guys' came in w/the 'Illegals"? They are here & may be ready to strike? I too concur with shipping them back! Guy, you can go on & on anytime? Take Care-RichW/43

Well I've lived on the Left Coast ever since I left the Corps and i don't believe I've had any of my rights violated! I ride a bicycle and i wear a helmet and i think it is a good law along with seat belts! I"ve been driving a big Rig for 35 plus years and have seen to many ejected bodies on the side of the road. But if you don"t want to do those things why should we pay for your freedom not to use your sense!? GW was not responsible for Katrina, which everyone seems to hold responsible for. How about a goofy mayor that demands an evacuation of a city where most of the New Orleanians that live in the inner city do not own vehicles! And he lets 3000 plus buses become flooded and stranded! Oh I forgot its GW"s fault! And their rocket scientist governor refused GW"S help!! States rights don"t forget. We also have spent 250Billion dollars to rebuild New Orleans and where has that money gone to Mayor Nagan? Oh yea George took it! We would have been better off just writing checks in the amount of 540,000.00 to each and every one of those that lived in NO. Also the "GW lied mantra is getting old.Just look at the voting record of our beloved left that voted for our stanch in Iraq and Afghanastan. So who has the stones to lead this greatest of all nations in 2008? I'am sure all of the Jihadis can't wait for a camp fire get together with whom ever wins the vote.Anyway,next!!.....Semper Fi to all!!.....Dale

You can bet our beloved "Left' will make things ,more difficult than usual? Dale-Of course all the problems created are:George W & his Administration?? Some people say,"That there are Moderate Muslims- Where? If there are they here, why don't they speak up? It won't happen ;Because they would betaken care of ,by others?-Semper Fi-RichW/43

Never said that wearing a seatbelt wasn't the best thing to do or wearing a helmet. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). I do not consider myself a foreigner. It is wrong that they can tap my phone, invade my home with out a reason. Never stated that GW was at fault, but he is the man in charge of this sorry administration. His boy "Brownie" had no idea of what was going on. As far as all the lies that his administration have told it is quit evident. All the votes by the "left"for the war were based on BS. It has been proven. Maybe thats the reason all of his "boys" jumped ship or was forced to retire. Rove, Gonzo etc. If half of the money that is being spent on this war, was spent on maintaining our borders we wouldn't be in this sad state we are in.
I'am sure all of the Jihads can't wait for a camp fire get together with whom ever wins the vote. You a very right about that................... they work here at the all the corner stores and gas stations. We may even have one for our President.

Terry & Swanny, What ever happened to the 'Weapons of Mass Destruction'-(WMD)?? Do either of you remember in the begining of this 'Iraqui War',there were 'Satellite pictures, which showed people moving stuff into 'Syria & the Beccaha Valley' -Trucks hauling all that stuff away? They didn't stay around long?Darn shame, that we couldn't get some people to take care of that? Again-A Big BOOM?-Semper Fi-"The Crazy Old Man"-RichW/43

Dale, Rich, Wish more of our guys hard a something to say about all this "RANTING" we have been doing. I doubt I will vote for him either, all my boys have fallen by the wayside. I think both party's blow smoke......... just pray that the next commander in chief has enough heart and pride to get this country back on track. If they keep spending money like they have been, we are in deep nuts. As far as the WMD'S go I don't think they had them in Iraq. Before we jump into another conflict we must be sure of what our intelligents says. A lot of time and money was spent looking for WMD'S, found none and here we are 7 years latter,4000 + American men and women dead and still none. Still looking for Bin Laden. I really don't understand why we can't find him.

Will terrorism stop once bin Laden's gone? Of course not. There are fifty other douchebags vying for the top spot in Al-Qaeda.
Bin Laden has had serious health issues for the past couple years. He probably doesn't have the stamina to even leave his cave for the morning paper. Others have taken over his duties for quite some time now.
Every few months or so, AQ drops a new video on the world by way of Al-Jazeera, stating that America will die at the gates of a thousand hells, blah blah blah... Bin Laden hasn't even appeared in most of them. There are several of his lieutenants that are just as warm and cuddly as he is.
He's not as important as the hand-wringers would have you believe.
