Hey, Brother. Hey Judy.
Just layin' low, tinkering on my old Sunbeam (remember those?). I'm getting the bodywork finished up so I can get her painted and cruise around with the top down come spring.

John Karnath of Quantico fame has been found living in New York. He is a civilian Crash Crewman working at a Air Force base in Niagra Falls. Haven't talked to him since about 1972. Was great hearing from. The man Phil Wipperman has come thru again. Hats off to Phil once again. GOOD JOB PHIL. Semper Fi Brothers and Sisters. Joe D.

Sorry Joe, but I had a host of complaints as well. CFR was all about field-daying trucks, the barn, and winning 'Area Of The Month' over and over. Busy work filled every work day. If CFR had been so great, I would still be doing it instead of EASing at the earliest opportunity.
I'm unable to argue with Sgt. Howard's assessment of some of the leaders also. I found that by the time some had become SNCOs, they were more interested in maintaining the status quo than bringing progress to the MOS and increased capabilities to their troops.
But I also knew some who went to great lengths to foster teamwork and introduce us to the different aspects of CFR and the rest of the Fire Service.
I specifically point out GySgt Jose Mercado and thank him for sending me to the Federal Fire Department's Station 8 on base at K-Bay for cross-training with the Structural Firefighters there. Had he not shown me the workings of a structural fire department, I would never have considered a career in the Fire Service.
As things have turned out, I'm sincerely grateful to Gunny Mercado and CFR. I have a great life and a good career, and I owe it to God and the Corps.
As time passes, the BS memories fade, and I focus on remembering the good times with good friends.

Your right Eric, but you still have some good things to say. Not all was bad. I to switched MOS's after I went back in. Just felt I needed a change not because I didn't like Crash Crew. You are right everyone has there own opinion. HAHAHA Semper Fi Joe D.
