Eric,Rich,Larry and all, I've been off the web for awhile~I just finished reading everyones views and ideas about a west coast chapter and Eric I think you hit on a great idea about not having two seperate chapters~ What if we vote on an east coast location and a west coast location on our Quantico reunion? Then we could hold the west coast reunion on the even year~Rich and I are getting together in june to do some brain storming on this~ I agree on the unity of one AFFR and look forward to helping on a west coast reunion and hopefully Rich and I can hit Mirmar and Pendleton and recruit some new members for AFFR. I will keep you informed of some places and ideas about a west coast reunion. Semper Fi!....Dale

What if we vote on an east coast location and a west coast location on our Quantico reunion? Sounds like a good idea. We'll be mailing out ballots a few months before the 2009 Quantico reunion, for President and Treasurer elections, and for the location of the 2011 reunion. The returned ballots are counted before the reunion, and the final results are then announced during the reunion. It would take very little work at all to also include, on the Location Ballot, choices for a 2010 West Coast reunion. Any Board members would be happy to help you coordinate that aspect. Just a thought... Since you're The Man With The Plan, you might want the West Coast Location ballot to only list sites that are convenient for you, and insist that those are the only choices. It wouldn't be doing you any favors if the majority voted for Vegas or Hawaii, or some other place several hours from you.

All-Giving you an update on the 'West Coast Reunion(s)'! ;D In early June, I plan to meet with 'Swanny' in So.California, to do some prelim work on getting started for 'Future Reunions. This planning covers our review & work towards the Initial one which will be held in the West, starting in 2010? Whatever ,we work out in this preliminary effort will be provided in our determination & recommendations;these will be sent forward for review & acceptance by the AFFRA officers? This will be prior to any formal effort beginning on that WCR work & commitments of the organization for that reunion? We will find out our required dates once we have settled on a place to stay & hold that reunion? :PSemper Fi-Marines/The Crazy Old Man/RichW/49

All-Next week I will meet with Swanny for a 'Kick-off' on the planning for the West Coast Reunion of 2010! ;D I plan to bring the research I've completed & my ideas for a starting point? 8-)We are going to need to form a 'Committee' to pursue & follow-up on individual tasks? The Outcome of our planning will be sent forward to the Officers & then ,once approval is received, we will send a 'Flyer' to the 'Secretary' which then can be included in the AFFRA News Letter! :)Semper Fi-The Crazy Old Man-RichW/49

Left coast checking in~Rich and I just returned from MCAS Miramar, which is the home of the 3rd MAW and had a great tour of crash crew from MGysgt Michael Derobertis Crash Chief. If all goes well I believe we will hold our first west coast reunion here. We were really impressed with the facility and the personnel. We will put together a flyer and forward it to AFFR. All-I was working with 'Swanny'this past week on our trying to get a '2010' West Coast Reunion going? ;DWe have gone to MCAS,Miramar,CA & believe that is where we want to hold this reunion? Swanny is the key west Coast Guy on this! It is important early on for us to determine-How many would attend? :DThis will be a key on the size of place or places we commit too? I am just throwing some things out,for your consideration-Like the Reunion would be in 'September '10';that's where we are heading? :)Also, AFFR members who would like to help us put this together-contact Dale Swanson-'Swanny' or me-'Jarhead32'-Rich Watkin as an alternate? :DSemper Fi-The Crazy Old Man-RichW/49

Swanny & Stretch-The flier that was enclosed with the 'Recent News Letter',covering the '2010West Coast Reunion Planning for the off year AFFR Association Meetings? ;D All,who get this please respond with whatever your guess is ?--to :DDale Swanson;so as when we go back to the people at MCAS,Miramar;we have the best advanced planning information we can have? Like a 'Wedding & Reception'-one needs to really plan, know available funds & size of the space,we sign up for? :oWe have to 'Reserve the Size Space we want? It becomes necessary to reserve during that time frame well in advance; plus at certain break points, including Different Catering Setups & types of food, drinks, etc. Plus, give them an idea,so as they could determine Personnel & Equipment needs? It would greatly help if you could-Guess or say-how many would consider attending & RSVP.Be it 30 or 75,or even more???Thanks -Semper Fi-The Crazy Old Man-RichW/49

I'm receiving an average of about 3 replies per week on the 2010 reunion and they're about 50/50 on the who will attend and those that will not. I will be attending a mini west coast get together on July 19th at Richard Takacs house in San Clemente. He is expecting about 20 or so. Hopefully I will be able to tap into some help in organizing our reunion. Semper Fi!.....Dale
